Optoelectronics is the marriage of light with electricity and is a powerful tool for attracting students’ interest. It is the basis of television, medical imaging, communications, mobile phones, digital cameras, CD players, computer screens, and much more. Together with a number of teachers and young academics, Rank Prize Funds has designed three sets of hands-on experiments illustrating facets of the subject and, following a successful pilot in Scotland, is introducing them into schools throughout the UK.

We have free equipment for 24 schools in the East Midlands.

At the workshop you will be able to try out the kit and we’ll run through the ways it can be used in the classroom.  Contact details for your school will be taken and you will be sent the kit shortly afterwards. In order to receive all three kits, a teacher from your school will have to attend three twilight workshops or the full day training

Booking is essential. Other dates (all at same location): 17th February 4pm to 5.30pm – Solar Buggy, 31st March 4pm to 5.30pm - Vision & Displays, 18th March 9.30am to 2.30pm – all 3 workshops.
