A series of hands-on activities for invited local primary schools to take part in and enjoy! Delivered by the School of Chemistry, Institute of Hearing Research, School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering and School of Physics and Astronomy.
This half day free event is aimed at teachers in KS2, KS3, KS4 and post 16 who would like to run an e-mission in their school. Teachers will be introduced to the e-missions and their use of video conferencing and will take part in an e-mission with the live link to the National Space Centre. East Midlands’ schools that have not booked an e-mission or Challenger Mission before will be eligible for the subsidised rate if they book an e-mission for their school. This event, organised by LEBC, celebrates the talent in Leicester City and Leicestershire schools and colleges in the field of textiles. This lively fashion show enables young people to showcase their GCSE and A Level textiles work along with skills in dance, lighting and sound.
This new and exciting 3 day conference is part of the country's first Space Academy. The conference will support secondary teachers, particularly those who teach 14-19 year olds, to use space as an inspirational hook to deliver schools' curricula in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).
The conference will comprise a number of practical sessions taking place at both the National Space Centre and Science Learning Centre East Midlands as well as key note talks given by some of the world's leading experts in Space Science.
Delegates will also be given insights into the role of space in modern life; science, technology, the environment and human issues including how to relate them to physics, biology and chemistry topics in school. In addition they will have opportunities to experience a Challenger and E-Mission and to explore links with employers who have particular focus on the space and aerospace sectors in the region. The cost is £80 for teachers from schools in the East Midlands.
