  • Engaging with Mathematics – a journey for teachers, learners and families

    This free, one-day conference hosted by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics will explore learners’ attitudes to mathematics.

    As well as keynote presentations and plenary discussions, the day will include:

    • Sharing best practice
    • Workshop sessions exploring:
       - What you do in the classroom
       - What goes on at home
       - Progression and transition through mathematics
         (from primary to higher education)
    • Knowledge Exchange: displays from NCETM-funded projects, subject associations, government initiatives and resources for mathematics teaching and learning
    • Networking opportunities

    This event is aimed at Advanced Skills Teachers, Heads of Mathematics/ Mathematics Coordinators, Key Skills Teachers, Learning Support Staff / Higher Level Teaching Assistants, Lecturers, Newly Qualified Teachers, Senior Leaders, Teachers, Teacher Educators.

    Part of the Engineering Education Scheme for 2009/10 in the East Midlands. EES is an EDT Programme which links teams of four Year 12 students and their teacher with local companies to work on real, scientific, engineering and technological problems.
