Leicestershire Education Business Company, the Stempoint and SEAs contract holder for Leicestershire has a programme of 36 talks and visits for secondary schools during National Science and Engineering Week as well as science workshops for primary schools.
Science and Engineering Ambassadors from a variety of backgrounds are offering talks on subjects ranging from the science of colour, to energy and climate change aimed at inspiring and informing students about the exciting opportunities available within STEM careers. Students also have the opportunity to learn about the use of science and technology in modern agriculture on a farm visit, find out about the work that goes on at the Space Research Centre at Leicester University and the science of brewing at Everards Brewery in Leicester.
Today (Friday 13th March) students from De Lisle Catholic School in Loughborough will be finding out from Rona Gidlow at 3M how electromagnetic radiation can be used to image body parts. Students at Gateway 6th Form College in Leicester will learn that science doesn’t always take place in a laboratory, when they hear about the research being carried out into parenting and childhood in an uncertain world by Leanne Franklin, Loughborough University.
