In October we hosted the bi-annual STEM Partnership Forum event at emda, and judging by the evaluation reports we had a particularly successful day.
We wanted delegates to take away 3 key messages. Firstly, STEM is and will be a key growth area for UK employment, for both graduates and non-graduates. Secondly, regardless of career pathway, employers value young people who have STEM qualifications and these skills are regarded as transferable to many areas. Finally in order to encourage more young people and individuals wanting to change career path we need to ensure we inform them about the breadth of opportunities available as a result of studying STEM subjects. A number of key local employers presented including Andrew Bowyer form Magna Parva and Andrew Dawson-Maddocks, from ADM Shine Technologies. Feedback on the day included, ‘all parts were excellent. All speakers were very inspirational’ and on the all female panel of speakers ‘the panel discussion was brilliant and it was great to see so many STEM women’ Guest Blogger ; Alison Harrold
