GoCosmic Writing Competition 2010

by Guest Blogger: STEMPoint 12. January 2010 14:12

The GoCosmic Creative Writing Competition has been launched for key stage 2 & 3 students in Derbyshire.  Students are encouraged to blend their cosmic knowledge with creative writing possibilities to enhance their ability to communicate, write, express and wonder!  So students can talk, ask questions and let their imagination run wild; look through a telescope, research on-line, draw, paint, sculpt, but most of all let their thinking Go Cosmic!

Perhaps students could write;

A letter of application for a job as an astronaut on the next mission to Mars

An epic saga of an interplanetary journey across the solar system

A day in the life of …a star… an astro-dog…a telescope…a cosmic hitch-hiker ...

Or even discover answers to questions such as;

What is the Big Bang theory?…. do you have a better one?

What is a constellation and when did you last look at one?

What is a light year and how many would it take to cross the solar system?

For more information on the GoCosmic writing competition contact Patsy Russell at or on 01629 580000 Ext: 32880
