This highly successful project is enhancing the maths curriculum and helping pupils get a better understanding of money and enterprise. The classroom activities and resources have been developed by LEBC in partnership with pfeg and Alliance & Leicester and include teacher training.
By choosing to deliver personal finance education with a maths focus, the 23 schools taking part across Leicestershire are making the subject more interesting and relevant to pupils.
For example, the My Money Matters resource, written by LEBC in conjunction with Alliance & Leicester, has been successfully used in year 10 classes at Lutterworth College on a regular basis for the past two years. It’s proven to be a really great way of engaging those pupils with maths.
“With the support and knowledge of LEBC, we have been able to develop our maths curriculum to include real-life scenarios to support and enhance our students’ knowledge of personal finance education.” Peter Heames, Lutterworth College
“LEBC’s help is very much appreciated. Thank you for the materials, they look great and are very easy to use.” Angela Ewington, Leicester Grammar School
“The materials you showed us were excellent and I’m sure that the students are going to enjoy doing these activities.” Jen Howes, King Edward VII CC Melton
“I would like to comment on the professionalism, commitment and enthusiasm of Emma Higgins, the Enterprise Co-ordinator. Through her hard work I know that financial literacy, a topic we have not covered before, will be successfully delivered to around 200 students next year and I look forward to refining and expanding the programme in the following years.” Sally Wyatt, Gateway College
