Final arrangements for the Space Academy Teacher Conference 2011 are underway to make it the most successful to date. Building on the success of the previous two years the Space Academy team and the Science Learning Centre East Midlands are working hard to create more exciting CPD sessions in each science subject area using Space as a context. The sessions are designed to equip teachers with new ideas for demonstration and practical experiments which are directly relevant to secondary science education. In addition to these practical sessions keynote talks to improve subject knowledge have been confirmed as being from Prof Paul Monks, leading earth observation scientist from Leicester University, Prof Christine Davies, theoretical physicists from Glasgow University and Dr Andrew Pontzen, young enthusiastic cosmologist from Cambridge University. We hope that this conference is going to be the most exciting and well attended yet and we think that it’s a great advert for collaborative STEM working in the East Midlands.
