Make an impact

There’s a lot of great STEM work going on right now across the East Midlands. Educators are inspiring young people, businesses are getting involved and there are many schemes and organisations designed to enhance and enrich the school curriculum.

These range from university support groups like Nottingham Trent University’s Centre for Effective Learning in Science, through to award-winning educational attractions like Snibston Discovery Park.

Organisations such as STEMNET can also help schools and colleges access STEM activities and experiences. One way in which STEMNET does this is by working with sub-regional partners who provide advice and support for schools, business and other organisations.

Remember, there are many ways to boost interest in STEM subjects. These include helping students to…

  • Get involved in STEM projects or clubs
  • Take part in STEM workshops, competitions, challenges and talks
  • Meet scientists, engineers and others and learn about their fascinating work
  • Visit companies, universities, science centres and museums
