Your company’s role in the community is vital. By getting involved with local schools and colleges, you can help raise skills and demonstrate the exciting range of career opportunities available to people with STEM qualifications.
Your company can get involved in several different ways. You could encourage your employees to join a volunteer scheme; going out to schools and inspiring young people by helping with their studies and acting as role models for the industry.
You could also invite local schools to visit your company or offer work placements for both students and teachers. You may choose to run a workshop or a competition, or even sponsor an event. There’s lots you can do and, as well as motivating young people, it all helps with your own employees’ development and is a good way to achieve corporate social responsibility targets.
See the Links for Businesses page for organisations and schemes which can support businesses to get involved with schools and colleges.
